The studios may be closed but our students are still buzzing with creativity! To keep everyone in the swing of things during lockdown Ann is setting a weekly challenge with prizes for each winner!
For week one, the challenge was to draw or paint a still life where it is not the subject matter that inspires, but the paint handling, the experimental use of colour and/or the variety of edges.
We had some fantastic entries…

We were so impressed by all of the paintings and as a result, it was very difficult to crown a winner. However, after much consideration we decided that Liz’s pomegranates had won the prize, as she closely followed the brief and had a lovely variety of edges and lost edges. We also loved her expressive paint handling and experimental use of colour. Many congratulations Liz!
