Ann and Scott have had a studio in the Battersea Business Center since 2004. Jill joined them in 2014. They moved into this recent and larger studio in late 2024. “The three of us met in Florence at Charles H Cecil Studios, where we taught and studied for many years”. Returning to London in 2004 Ann and Scott set up their teaching studios in London alongside their own smaller studio practice.
Jill joined them in 2010 and has been painting with the students since then. She is a recipient of the International Artist in Residence Rubens Award and has a global talent visa. She is a renowned artist from Charleston, South Carolina, where her portraits hang in the Gibbes Museum of Fine Art.
Scott founded Lavender Hill Colours and has specialised in sculpture running the studio sculpture programme and taking on diverse and ambitious sculpture commissions.
Alongside her teaching at the studios, Ann writes regularly for art periodicals and teaches in museums across London. Although she does not take on formal portrait commissions, her portrait demonstrations hang in many public collections.
Jill says, “After years of creating together in Florence and London, Ann and I have the excitement of sharing an incredible studio with lighting that even Sargent would approve of. Joining together continues to push us each to be better artists and is certainly full of critiques riddled with art history and niche art jokes—what sheer and utter joy!
My side of the studio is full of the faces of the many lovely characters modeling at London Fine Art Studios…..a greek architect, Italian dancer, and a happy poet to name a few of the colourful visages. I have sprinkled flora and fauna seen through round Italian frames. It is a bit like peering into a port hole as one views butterflies, bird nests or a pink azalea.
The joy and usefulness of creating with friends is a great thing and a safe harbor. It’s the closest to being in a cockaigne (without the idleness) that I have ever experienced. Come eat cake with us!”
